Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons
Dr. Gelder is a Board Certified double degree (DDS and MD) Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He is a graduate of Union College with a Bachelor of Science degree where he was also a varsity collegiate athlete playing football for the Dutchman. Following Union College, Dr. Gelder graduated with a Doctor of Dental Science Degree (DDS-Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Buffalo in 1997. Immediately following dental school graduation, Dr. Gelder was accepted into Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Double Degree training program at the University of Buffalo. There he obtained advanced training in all phases of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, received his Medical Degree in 2000 and completed a one year residency in General Surgery. After completing his training in Buffalo, Dr. Gelder came to the Capital District and joined the reputable practice of Dr. Stephen Carney and Dr. Christopher Reilly, where he became a partner in 2004.
Dr. Gelder successfully completed the dual stage Board certification process in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery passing both the written and oral examinations. He is dually licensed in both the practice of medicine and dentistry.
Dr. Gelder is an active member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, NYS Dental Association and the Third District Dental Society. He maintains an active Hospital Surgical Staff appointment at Ellis Hospital in the division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Gelder resides in North Greenbush with his wife Agnes and their four children Izabella, Liam, Nicholas, and Julia.
Dr. Reilly is a native of the Capital District. He received his undergraduate degree from Hamilton College (Cum Laude) in 1985 where he also played college Basketball for the Continentals. He received his DDS and Dental Board Certification from the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 1989 (Cum Laude). Upon graduation, he entered the combined Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency training program at the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and School of Dental Medicine. He obtained advanced training in all phases of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and was the first resident at SUNY Buffalo to enter the combined DDS, MD program in Buffalo. During residency he received his Medical Degree in 1992 and completed a one-year residency in General Surgery.
Upon completion of his advanced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical training in 1994, Dr. Reilly entered his present private practice in the Capital District. Dr. Reilly is a Diplomat of the American Board of Maxillofacial surgery and re-certified his board Certification in 2007.
Dr. Reilly is an active member of the American Dental Association, New York State Dental Society (Third District), American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and The New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (NYSSOMS) as a former member of the Board of Directors. Dr. Reilly had been a staff surgeon at the Albany Memorial Hospital dating back to 1994, the previous Century Hill Outpatient Surgical Center (chief of Oral Surgical Services) and is an active Staff Surgeon in the division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York.
Dr. Reilly resides in Delmar, New York with his wife Kendall and their three boys, Ryan, Kyle, and Connor.
